Dog Friendly Dining, Pembrokeshire

Dining out with Alfie has to be one of our favourite things to do while we are away. James and I are both keen foodies so finding good quality dog friendly really is a must. I have compiled a little collection of our favourites from our recent stay with Coastal Cottages. I hope you and your hound find them useful. These really are the best places in south Pembrokeshire.

Be prepared for some of Alfie’s greatest “please feed me” eyes in this post…. He has turned into a food monster this holiday! It’s a bloody good job he is cute!

The Brewery Inn, Cosheston

On a Sunday afternoon a roast dinner is essential, after a little scout out of the area we came across the charming Brewery Inn. This warm and friendly pub offers a great hearty roast! We received the warmest of welcomes from the team, instantly feeling at home. After a couple of treats and some beef from the kitchen Alfie had some friends for life.

The pub offers three courses; a light starter, killer roast then something sweet to finish. You have the choice of three roasts. Lamb, beef or chicken roast… Or for those who needed to go all out, the triple roast. Of course, the triple was the winer! It was delicious! So full from dinner we couldn’t fit in a sweet treat – Which is pretty rare for me!

Caffi Llew, Tenby

On our first trip to Tenby we stumbled across the adorable Caffi Llew, a quaint little bistro in the heart of Tenby. We were instantly welcomed in with Alfie before we had the chance to ask, with full access we took a cosy seat in the corner… Perfect for watching the world go by.

I’m a big kid at heart, so I find it impossible to resist a milkshake! Especially one this tasty! I went for a strawberry one which I managed to demolish in a matter of seconds [it’s hard work all this walking]. James and I both went for the bacon and brie panini with cranberry sauce

Now, as a true cake addict I had already clocked the cake stands, literally the moment I walked through the door… It just had to be the chocolate cake. All the cakes were handmade, with generous portions – We probably should have shared a slice! No regrets there.

The Stackpole Inn, Stackpole

A short drive from Barafundle bay is the gorgeous Stackpole Inn. Filled with country charm this Gastro-pub will definitely hit the spot. Dogs are welcome in a designated area [use the side entrance], and will receive a warm welcome.

We stopped here for a late lunch after a morning playing in the sea with one very sleepy spaniel… Keen to share anyone lunch! James opted for the Walkers lunch a lot like a ploughmans. With a selection of cheeses and home roasted ham it was just what was needed. I descided on a the freshly baked roll, filled with ham and cheddar – Which was very tasty!

The Stowaway, Tenby

Tucked away in the harbour slip road is the gorgeous Stowaway. A charming little coffee shop, nestled away in the arches. For me it was love at first sight, aesthetically pleasing with fairy lights, good music and the most welcoming barista ever.

We took a seat in a cosy nook, to enjoy our hot drinks before ordering something to eat… I went all out with a white hot chocolate, topped with cream and marshmallows [a big kid at heart] and James had a picture perfect latte. I’m not a coffee fan, but when it comes with art I just can’t resist snapping a photo.

The Stowaway has a selection of sweet and savoury treats available, I just couldn’t resist something sweet [of course] opting for a flapjack… Possibly the best I have ever tasted. James stuck to the savoury, deciding on the chicken and bacon pasty.

The Cow Shed, Whitland

On the hunt for the perfect pizzeria we were pointed in the direction of The Cowshed, situated on a family farm in Whitland this family run business is a real treat. Specialising in the most delicious Jersey ice cream, they have recently transformed their cafe into a charming pizzeria. Ice cream and Pizza? Could you really ask for much more?

We were welcomed by their Collie, who was patiently waiting out front to say hello – Another great sign when looking for somewhere that is truly dog friendly! We were then shown to our table in the restaurant, A very sleepy Alfie soon made himself at home…  Sprawling out instantly, resting up for his next beach walk.

Now, let’s talk food. I just couldn’t resist one of their milkshakes, Strawberry is definitely my favourite. Made from their own Jersey ice cream it really was a treat. James opted for a beer. Deciding on pizza’s was quite a tricky decision, all sounded delicious! In the end I went with “all the meats” and James had the Felino… Both cooked on the stone baked pizza oven, just perfect.

I hope you have found these useful, stay tuned for our beach guide – Coming very soon!
