Dogfest is definitely one of my favourite dog events of the year, a whole show completely dedicated to dogs! What more could any mad dog lady want?
This was my second year attending the event, but I can tell you now it will be a regular thing for me… As a blogger it is great for networking. Such a wonderful way to meet up with fellow Instagram dogs, see the brands you love and meet new ones! Thank’s to the PR team, Alfie and I were given a press pass for the event, giving us full access to the event and much to our surprise the VIP area… We felt very privileged indeed.
Always a highlight for me are the have-a-go activities, It is the perfect way for you and your dog to try something new and have lots of fun! Alfie always gives the hay bale race a go… He flew over the bales as fast as his little legs could take him.
There is something there for every dog, from fun dog shows to agility. Dog Diving is something I am so keen to have a go at with Alfie, but being the over protective dog parent I am, I was a little apprehensive about giving it a go with such a big crowd – He is the biggest wimp when it comes to people! I’d hate for him to freak out once he has dived in… Maybe next year!
For many the highlight of going to DogFest is see Professor Noel Fitzpatrick live on stage, whether you have brought the VIP experience or gather around the main stage everyone will get the opportunity to hear his talks.
This year Alfie and I gathered on the hay bales by the main stage with our friends to listen, Noel shared his story with us all, how his career has progressed from a tiny veterinary practice in Ireland, to the large referral hospital’s he owns today. The work Noel and his team do is remarkable, giving many pet owners that extra lifeline for their beloved pet.
Lets Talk Shopping!
Now, the shopping is what many really go for! It is the dream for many dog product hoarders like myself. You will find a great selection of products, from our favourite boutique accessory brands to discovering your dog’s new favourite treats – It would be impossible to walk around without buying something. I thought I’d share with you some of our favourites.
Do you remember Huxley Hound? Those tasty treats I shared with you few month back? I finally got to meet the team in person – Always a bonus of these events! It was great to find out a little more about the treats, and jut how good they are for the dog [and you!]
Alfie was very kindly given some treats to stock up his treat jar – They are definitely going to be a regular thing, he goes mad for them.
Guru Pet Food
Of course, we just had to pop by and see our friends at Guru. Alfie can recognise his “aunty Lisa” from a mile away! As he drags my across the field at high-speed to say hello! [Thanks Alf!]. There is always a buzz around the stand, I can guarantee you’ll bump into at least one insta dog while you are there.
Guru have just released some very exciting venison and apple sausages, it would be rude not to give them a try – Alfie loved them!
I have been following the gorgeous Elite Hound on social media for what feels like forever! Totally in love with their products imagine my excitement when I found out that they were going to DogFest? I could not wait to try Alf in some of their products.
It was a hard decision but I decided on the most gorgeous green velvet collar. Something so unique, he looks fabulous.
Now, By Benji was my newest discovery! Alfie quickly made himself into their stand – Obviously lured in by the smell of the tasty treats!
By Benji produce naturally dry cured premium dog snacks, made from only the finest silverside of beef. Made from human grade meat they really are good enough to eat – Trust me! I did. I was a little apprehensive about it to start with but if it’s good enough for Alf it’s good enough for me. It was surprisingly delicious.
The Big Tick Project
We have been lucky enough to work closely with The Big Tick Project over the past few month. Helping to raise much needed awareness about ticks and why it is so important that your dog is protected against them. I won’t repeat myself here but I highly recommend taking a look at our blog post all about it.
Throughout the show the team were there checking your dogs for ticks and sharing that much needed information… With the help from celebrity Chris Packham.
Another great show, It’s always such fun to meet so many friends old and new… Of course spending a little too much money at the same time. Roll on next year!
