Nestled in the gorgeous red bricked streets of Knightsbridge is The Egerton House Hotel, an extravagant hotel where their four-legged guests are somewhat of a priority…
Alfie and I were honoured to be invited along to stay at The Egerton back in March to write our first published piece for Dogfriendly.co.uk [Eek! My first published piece! What a dream!]. So James and I with our little Alfie in tow, headed to London to spend the weekend in sheer luxury… The perfect treat for my birthday weekend.
The Egerton House Hotel is well-known for their afternoon tea, for both human and hound. A luxury experience that any lover of tea, cake and dogs will love! Of course, it ticks all my boxes! I couldn’t resist sharing it with you.
We received the warmest welcome upon arrival, after a quick tour of the extravagant building and lots of attention for Alfie we took a seat in their elegant drawing-room for afternoon tea. We instantly felt at home, there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Alfie soon made friends with the dog across the table, they wandered about together happily… Obviously they were both used to this lavish lifestyle.
For your Pooch
I adore anywhere that has their very own dog menu, I think the menu at The Egerton may well be my favourite to date. The Afternoon Tea consists of three courses, all lovingly prepared by the team, and so well presented! Come on, have you ever seen a dog’s dinner look so fabulous?
For starters, Meatloaf! Chicken and Beef to be precise, with fresh parsley… Spoilt is an understatement! It was served warm and smelt delicious, I was honestly considering tasting it myself. Alfie approved, gobbling it down in a matter of seconds! His big crazy eyes came out, you could tell he enjoyed every mouthful.
This was followed by the homemade doggy biscuits… I must admit I was that boring dog mum who made him put them away for later, I didn’t want him eating too much before dinner! The biscuits went down a treat later on though.
Lastly was Alfie’s favourite course, Pudding! [He definitely gets that from me!] For pudding he had delicious doggy ice cream… I think the photo says it all!
For the Humans
Afternoon tea at the Egerton is just as fabulous for the humans, We had the full traditional afternoon tea with a the added treat of champagne! A total winner! Our wonderful waiter took the time to go through the menu with us beforehand, carefully explaining each aspect with us so we knew exactly what to expect.
We started with a selection of freshly cut sandwiches; smoked salmon, egg mayonnaise, roast ham and them my favourite cucumber and cream cheese… I must admit, i always try to feed James as much of the sandwich part as possible. Got to save plenty of room for the cakes!
Like every Afternoon tea the sandwiches were followed by the scones and cakes… My favourite bit! We were definitely in for a treat. There was all the cake you could possible need, we happily spent the afternoon sipping champagne and sharing the cake selection. It was a wonderful!
A huge thank you to the staff at The Egerton House Hotel for making our stay a complete dream, it was by far one of my favourite trips ever. Everything was lovely and relaxed, and Alfie was made to feel so welcome. – Not just by the staff, the other guests couldn’t resist stopping by to give him a fuss.
