For the Explorer | Purplebone

Alfie is quite the dapper dog, and as his crazy dog mum I am always on the hunt for the latest trends for him. Whether it is a new bow tie or a snazzy coat, I always try to dress him practically – He is a spaniel after all!

I have recently fallen in love with London-based PurpleBone, a luxury boutique filled with some of the most adorable items. Honestly, head over and take a look. With a wide array or treats, toys and clothes you will definitely have your basket full in seconds. For me it has to be their coats… Each so unique! Designed completely with the fashionable town dog in mind. This is where things differ with Alfie. For him to wear a coat it needs to be practical, hard-wearing and suitable for his country life style.

Now imagine my excitement when we were given the opportunity to shoot a look book with a selection of our favourite items. Thinking carefully about our choices I selected three items perfect for the explorer and took them on our recent trip to The Brecon Beacons to really test them out.

English Waxed Jacket

Firstly I opted for the English Waxed Jacket [brown]. A waxed jacket is a staple feature in any country gents wardrobe. This one is made from the highest quality of Scottish waxed cotton, this makes for reliable water resistance – Essential for our trip to Wales, the rugged mountain range has a whole variety of landscapes to discover. The wax will also act as extra protection from the rough terrain. If this is not enough the jacket is lined with insulating Sherpa fleece giving your dog extra warmth.

I love everything about this coat, it really is all in the detail! Especially the very smart corduroy collar. It is both stylish and practical as it can be left up for extra warmth or folded back to look fabulous! With its velcro fastening the jacket is easy to take on and off, and also adjustable so you can get the perfect fit. There is also a stomach strap which easily fastens by a buckle. It doesn’t need to be too tight, just done up enough that all is secure.

Red & Navy Reversible Fleece Jacket

Now The Red & Navy Reversible Fleece Jacket. I thought a sensible, practical fleece was definitely on the cards perfect for when things get a little chilly or for when a certain spaniel has swam a little too much but needs to keep going! The jacket has velcro straps which are easily adjustable so you can easily throw on when needed. It is a great lightweight option, perfect to pop in your rucksack just in case it comes in handy. A little different to the usual fleeces I go for but I love this more sleek streamlined look, and the fact that it’s reversible! Come on! Two coats in one what more could you need?

dsc_4951-11dsc_5016-11Both the navy and red are perfect colours for Alfie – We have always dressed liver and white spaniel in red, it always compliments them so well. The cool navy tones also looks great… It’s going to be a tough choice when deciding which side to wear.]dsc_5028-11111dsc_5039-11

Both sides come with the purple bone logo attached, the red is slightly more exquisite with the most fabulous navy binding – It is a great contrast.

The Vermont Tweed Jacket

Our final choice is the ever so stylish Vermont Tweed Jacket. This was the jacket to make me fall completely in love with Purplebone! I just knew when I saw a sneaky peak of the fabric in their Instagram Stories that Alfie needed this coat. I honestly love everything about it.dsc_5159-11

The Vermont Tweed Jacket is a premium jacket made from Scottish wool, the fabulous green and navy check with that hint of red is such a stylish print that I feel your dog can wear in any occasion. Wether you are heading for a walk around the city, a trip to the park or in my case heading to discover a new woodland in the Beacons. Thanks to its Sherpa fleece lining your dog will be warm and dry in the winter weather.

Like the waxed jacket, the Vermont has been specifically designed to make dressing simple. It fastens with the velcro neck strap and an adjustable buckle around the waist to keep the jacket from slipping also making it a comfortable fit.dsc_5225-11115126114_10154594458106855_143771620_o1

The detailing on this jacket is something else. I love that you can see the fur lining around the edges and on the collar really gives you that cosy feeling – Did you spot the little Purplebone pin too? I’m personally not a huge fan of branding but when it is done so tastefully it really can be the perfect finishing touch!

A huge thank you to Purplebone for gifting Alfie a wardrobe that any fashion conscious adventurer would be proud of! I really do feel that they are a great addition to any adventure.

Keep your eyes peeled! You will be able to read all about our trip to The Brecon Beacons on the blog very soon!

Brilliant blog! As a spaniel owner myself I have always gone functional with dog coats, but these are fashionable too. Alfie is a star.
Will head over to Purplebone when I do my woofmas shopping for sure.
